Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Colombo → Kandy (sightseeing tour)
Airport / Colombo pick-up and scenic drive to Kandy via a spice / herbal garden. Afternoon Kandy city tour including the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and evening cultural dance show.
Day 2: Kandy → Sigiriya (Dambulla sightseeing & Minneriya safari)
Morning drive to the Cultural Triangle. Visit the Dambulla Golden Cave Temple, then an afternoon Minneriya National Park jeep safari to see wild elephants.
Day 3: Sigiriya (Sigiriya Rock & Polonnaruwa sightseeing tour)
Early climb of Sigiriya Rock Fortress, then a guided tour of the ancient royal city of Polonnaruwa — a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 4: Sigiriya → Nilaveli
Cross-country drive from the Cultural Triangle to the east coast and check in at your Nilaveli beach hotel for three nights of relaxation.
Day 5: Nilaveli (Leisure)
Full day at leisure on Nilaveli beach. Optional Pigeon Island snorkelling, whale watching (in season) or hot-water wells excursion at your own cost.
Day 6: Nilaveli (Leisure)
Another full day of beach leisure — swim, sunbathe, or take an optional boat / diving trip on the calm east-coast waters.
Day 7: Nilaveli → Ella
Scenic transfer through the eastern plains up into the hill country. Afternoon Ella sightseeing with Little Adam's Peak and Nine Arch Bridge.
Day 8: Ella → Colombo (blue-train ride, tea factory, Galle Fort, Bentota)
The most scenic day of the tour: the blue-train hill-country ride, tea garden and factory tour, Mask Museum, Galle Fort walking tour and a Bentota river safari on the way back to Colombo / airport.

Things to Know Before Booking
- The east coast (Nilaveli / Trincomalee) is best from May to September — calm sea, sunshine and great snorkelling at Pigeon Island.
- Entrance fees for the Temple of the Tooth Relic, Yala, Botanical Garden and rainforest reserves are not included — budget roughly USD 30–50 pp for the sites you actually visit.
- The Sigiriya Rock climb involves around 1,200 steps — wear proper walking shoes and start early to beat the heat.
- When visiting temples (Tooth Relic, Dambulla) shoulders and knees must be covered; carry a light sarong or scarf.
- The hill-country blue train is unreserved on most legs — your guide will help you board and secure window seats where possible.
