DAY 2
Time : 5:00 am
Yala
Early in the morning, depart from your hotel with a breakfast packet and meet and greet with the safari jeep driver. The journey from your hotel to Yala National Park takes around 1 hour.
Yala National Park
Yala is considered one of Sri Lanka's oldest national parks; at the same time, it is the biggest national park in Sri Lanka, with 97880 hectares of area. Initially, Yala served as a hunting ground during the British rule in Sri Lanka. People reportedly had to pay a fee to hunt in Yala. Hunting drastically reduced the number of animals, leading to Yala's designation as a national park in 1900, which became a safe place for animals.
Yala, the largest national park, comprises five distinct zones. Yala holds a prominent place in terms of biodiversity. Yala is famous for its high density of wildlife such as leopards, elephants, deer, wild boar, bears, monkeys, etc.
Yala is considered one of the best places in the world to see leopards. There were 17 ½ leopards in every 100 square kilometers in Yala National Park. Block 1 of Yala National Park is home to the world's densest population of leopards, with approximately one leopard per 2 square kilometers. Sri Lanka leopards, unlike those in most other national parks, are active throughout the day.

DAY 3
Time : 9:00 am
Yala / Ella
After the leisurely breakfast, leave for the hotel in Ella via southern Sri Lanka's southern province.
Ravana waterfall
The Ravana Falls (popularly known as Ravana Ella in Sinhala) is a popular sightseeing attraction in Sri Lanka. It currently ranks among the country's widest falls. This waterfall measures approximately 25 m (82 ft) in height and cascades from an oval-shaped concave rock outcrop. In the local wet season, the waterfall resembles an areca flower with withering petals. But this is not the case in the dry season, when the flow of water reduces dramatically. The falls form part of the Ravana Ella Wildlife Sanctuary and are located 6 km (3.7 mi) away from the local railway station.
Ella
The area has a rich biodiversity, dense with numerous varieties of flora and fauna. Cloud forests and tea plantations cover the hills that surround Ella. The town has a cooler climate than the surrounding lowlands due to its elevation. The Ella Gap allows views across the southern plains of Sri Lanka.
In the afternoon, you will visit the 9 Arch Bridge and make the trek to Mini-Adams Peak.
Activities available for the day
Explore the mini-Adams peak, the 9-arch bridge, and Ravana waterfall.

DAY 4
Time : 7:00 am
Ella / Horton plains / Kitulgala

Hoton plains national park
Horton Plains National Park is located in the hill country of Sri Lanka at an elevation of 2,100–2,300 m (6,900–7,500 ft), it is one of the last remaining cloud forests on the island. The national park is declared a nature reserve in 1988. The Horton plains national park has a unique atmosphere, and it is primarily made of montane grassland and cloud forest. The forest harbors a large number of Fauna and Flora while endemism among the trees, plants, birds and animals is very high here.
The visitors will be trekking through the forest and encounter fascinating fauna, flora, streams, and a waterfall. The entire trek through the forest takes around 2 hours.

DAY 5
Time : 8:00 am
Kitulgala / Colombo
After a leisurely breakfast, leave for the water sports center and meet your experienced instructor. The program includes whitewater rafting in Kitulgala, kayaking, village tours, and a rainforest trek.
Whitewater rafting
A 4-wheel-drive Jeep will transport you to the water rafting starting point. This is the set-off point for most Whitewater adventures. This enthralling adventure lasts around 2 hours, with several stops on the way down the river. You will encounter 3 major rapids and 5 minor rapids. Whitewater rafting in Kitulgala carries a difficulty rating of 4. Therefore, we provide an experienced guide for each Whitewater rafting trip who takes the helm and manages the boat, leaving the others to paddle. There is no age limit or experience level to participate in the Whitewater adventure.
Bird watching
You will walk through the village, jungle, and plantations, searching for the indigenous bird. Kitulgala is a top pick among the bird watchers in Sri Lanka, where you have the opportunity to see many species of birds. Ornithologists, especially nature lovers, can reward themselves with sightings of the Crested Serpent Eagle, the Ceylon Spur Fowl, the Ceylon Hanging Parrot, and the Lay's Parakeet. Kitulgala offers activities like mountain biking, cultural sites, fruit orchards, and lowland tea plantations.
Rainforest trek
Experience a variety of fauna and flora in the Kitulgala Forest Reserve Rainforest, as well as beautiful scenery of waterfalls and streams hidden within the forest. Have a cool dip in a scenic flowing water stream during your Rain Forest Trek in the Jungle of Kitulgala.
Unlike the rainforest trek in Sinharaja, the rainforest trek in Kitulgala is not purely within a virgin rainforest. The trek includes a part of the village, rainforest, plantations, etc. The trek lasts around 2 hours, and our nature expert shows you the places of interest along the way while explaining the fauna and flora that you see during the trek.
Kayaking
Kithulgala is one of the best places for beginners to learn the basics of the sport, and advanced kayakers will find the Kelani River a fun place or simply get in a great day of exciting whitewater paddling. Kayaking downstream offers breathtaking scenery and a gentle journey. After the water sports, head to the hotel in Colombo.
Activities available for the day
I enjoy trekking through the rainforest, bird watching, whitewater rafting, and kayaking.
